About Us
Pesama Timber Corporation Sdn Bhd (Pesama) was established in late December 1973 as part of the Terengganu State Economic Development Corporation (TSEDC), and was subsequently made as one of the subsidiary companies under the government-linked company Golden Pharos Berhad (GPB), through a corporate restructuring exercise completed in September 1995.
The 20,243-ha Cherul Forest Concession (CFC) which is currently under the management of Pesama is sustainably managed in accordance with the general tenets of the Malaysian Selective Management System (SMS) based on a 30-year cycle (or rotation) and guided by a cogently written and approved Forest Management Plan (FMP) document. The FMP document covers the entire 30-year cycle, and implemented under the close supervision of the Terengganu State Forestry Department (TSFD).
As at present all of the round timbers that come out from CFC bear the FSC logo for "well-managed forest" certification; whereas all of the wood products that are manufactured at our sawmill at the Jakar Industrial Complex carry the Malaysia Timber Certification Council (MTCC) logo for Chain-of-Custody (C-o-C) certification.
